- Water Conservation Effort Increases - Sacramento County Water Agency customers are being asked to cut back on water use by at least 10%. Dry conditions have seriously reduced the federal water allocation for our area, making conservation efforts critical throughout the region. Read more details in the news release.
- Natomas Building Permits - The proposed modified flood elevation determinations affecting the Flood Insurance Rate Map and Flood Insurance Study for Sacramento County is considered final. The final Base Flood Elevations will be published in the Federal Register as soon as possible and the new maps will be effective December 1, 2008. For details, read the FEMA letter. - Proposed Remapping of Levees in the Delta Islands - Sacramento County will soon have new Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood zone maps, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps. FEMA is reviewing levees and considering whether or not they provide adequate protection. This means property owners in Freeport, Hood, Courtland, Locke, Walnut Grove and Delta Islands will likely have their flood zones redesignated as well. Homes in areas protected by ‘inadequate’ levees will be required to purchase flood insurance if they have a federally backed mortgage.
